GCC-1750 in Deep Space

Credit: NASA/JPL/Caltech

Farnborough, UK -- June 4, 1999 -- Launched from Cape Canaveral on October 24, 1998, the New Millennium Deep Space 1 continues to successfully test its 12 breakthrough technologies in flight.  The spacecraft will perform an asteroid fly-by in July 1999 and continue testing technologies until its prime mission concludes on September 18, 1999.  NASA is considering a possible extended mission that would include two comet fly-bys in 2001.

Spectrum Astro, Gilbert, AZ, used the GCC-1750 prototype to develop their part of the Deep Space 1 spacecraft.
