Platforms
XGC compilers require modest host computers. As a minimum we suggest
the following:
 | 50 MHz CPU |
 | 32M Byte RAM |
 | 1G Byte hard disk |
 | 9600 bits-per-second serial interface for connection to target |
 | VT100-compatible terminal |
The most cost-effective platform is an IBM PC running Linux. We propose the
following:
 | Hardware. IBM PC (or compatible) with Pentium 133MHz, 32MB of RAM,
1.6 GB hard disk drive, network interface, two serial interfaces and 1024 by
768 graphics. |
 | Operating System. Caldera OpenLinux Version 3.1. |
You may also use an earlier version of Caldera OpenLinux, or Linux from other
vendors. (We currently use Red Hat Version 8.0)
If you wish to use a Sun platform, then we recommend the following:
 | Hardware. Sun SPARC 5 or better, with 32M Bytes RAM, 1G Byte hard
disk, 17 inch monitor. |
 | Operating System. Solaris 2.6 or above with Open Windows or the
Common Desktop Environment. |
If you wish to use Microsoft Windows, then we recommend the following:
 | Hardware. IBM PC (or compatible) with Pentium 400MHz, 128MB of RAM,
10 GB hard disk drive, network interface, two serial interfaces and 1024 by
768 graphics. |
 | Operating System. MS Windows 2000 or above. |
Our C/C++ and Coral 66 products will also be available for the Apple Mac
platform. You will need Mac OS X. If this is your platform, please let us know.
